I do not pray that You should take them out of the world but that You should keep them from the evil one. John 17:15
Blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. Phil 2:15

How often have we prayed for Jesus to return - quickly! Maybe even "Now would be a good time, Lord!"

Depending on your view of heaven, the existence or absence of suffering in this life - you may or may not be anxious for His return.

Regardless of our motivation or desires, as long as we are alive, we have a purpose here. The world has always been "crooked and perverse" and the darker it becomes, the brighter we are to shine! It's not about winning the argument, or even conquering evil - Jesus has already won the Victory!

It's about bringing honor and glory to our heavenly Father.
Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Mat 5:16

The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but wounds and bruises and putrefying sores; they have not been closed or bound up, or soothed with ointment. Isa 1:5-6
We are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. Isa 64:6

Would we appreciate these perfect, glorious days of summer half as much if we didn't experience the dark days of winter? Would the refreshing rains mean as much to unparched lands?

As believers there is no shame when we sin for there is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus, yet, our sin should cut us to the heart - hurt us as it hurts our heavenly Father. It should bring us to our knees - not in shame - but in thanksgiving and gratitude to the One Who bore our shame - the One Who set us free!
You were washed, . . . you were sanctified, . . . you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. ★ The royal daughter is all glorious within. ★ "Your beauty . . . was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you," says the Lord God.

May God be gracious to us and bless us and make His face to shine upon us, Selah
that Your way may be known on earth, Your saving power among all nations.

Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah

Let the peoples praise You, O God; let all the peoples praise You! The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear Him! Psalms 67:1‭-‬7 ESV

Inspired by . . . ever brighter

The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Prov 4:18
This is one of my all-time favorite scriptures - - so filled with light and hope. As believers, we have experienced the miracle of change. Like the butterfly; we went from ugly, sinful creatures, to beautiful, righteous-winged creatures. Yet, unlike the butterfly, our change does not stop there.
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. 1John 3:2-3

The bread that God provides may not have a fancy name like ciabatta or focaccia but it is the only bread that satisfies the hunger of our soul.

In very truth I tell you, it is not because you saw signs that you came looking for Me but because you ate the bread and your hunger was satisfied. You should work, not for this perishable food, but for the food that lasts, the food of eternal life.
This food the Son of Man will give you, for on Him God the Father has set the seal of His authority. 'Then what must we do,' they asked Him, 'if our work is to be the work of God?' Jesus replied, this is the work that God requires: to believe in the One Whom He has sent. John 6:26-29

Inspired by . . . focus

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered In the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men but for the will of God. 1Pet 4:1-2
What might happen if we focused our frustrations and anger toward crucifying our sin rather than toward the God Who is so ready, able, and willing to forgive it?

Inspired by . . . Enduring Hardship

Endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 2 Tim 2:3
Do you ever wonder why Jesus had to suffer so much? Why couldn't God make a different, less painful way? Why is there so much suffering? Why can't God just make life our version of heaven on earth?

Lord, open our eyes to the reality of our personal SIN - for only then can we truly be SAVED, truly be FREE. In Jesus' holy name, Amen.
It was fitting for Him, for Whom are all things and by Whom are all things, in bringing may sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Heb 2:10
